Power = Energy + Choice: Redefining Power and Reclaiming Your Sovereignty
What is power? And how has patriarchy corrupted our understanding of what true power actually means?
In this episode, Kayla shares a profound redefinition of power from the Lady of Communion archetype in her priestess training: Power = Energy + Choice.
Not power-over. Not control. Not climbing ladders or crushing competition. Real power is the feminine creative energy (life force, eros, potential) combined with the masculine discernment and integrity (choice, how we use that energy). It's sovereignty. It's sitting on your throne and knowing you are divine, connected to Source, connected to Earth, connected to all living things.
Kayla breaks down how patriarchy has stripped us of this power — especially women, but also all humans. We've been told we're minuscule, lowly, unworthy. We've forgotten that humans are royalty of the cosmos — deeply powerful beings connected to both Earth and the heavens. We've been disconnected from our beauty, our capacity for love, our divinity.
But we're remembering. And when we tune inward, close our eyes, and feel what it means to be a sovereign being connected to Source, Earth, and all living things — nothing can stop us.

Speaker B:I'm Kayla Moore, your host priestess in training and and feminine liberation coach, here to help us really untangle ourselves from the patriarchal conditioning to weave the divine feminine, divine masculine back into who we are as humanity and to walk as love in the chaos of this world that we find ourselves in right now as we are creating and holding the frequency of a new world.
Speaker B:So welcome.
Speaker B:Today I'm going to talk about power and the difference between the power that we see out in the world right now and how we define it, and a different way of looking at power.
Speaker B:So again, before I dive in, I will give a brief plug for the Holy Rage circle that I am holding in Gig Harbor, Washington next Friday, Friday, May 29th.
Speaker B:It is from 6 to 8pm and if you are someone that has really been feeling the weight of the world or the weight of things shifting and changing so much in your own life that you've had a lot of feelings around it, trust me, a lot of us awakened souls are seeing the crumbling.
Speaker B:We're seeing it out there and we're seeing it in our own personal lives and sometimes internally as well, I think especially internally, because again, whatever is happening out there is also happening in here.
Speaker B:So there's a lot of belief systems that are starting to be erased or starting to soften and give way to us being able to feel and really embrace what it means to be a spiritual, awakened, enlightened being, to embrace abundance and to embrace the idea that we are able to create our own reality.
Speaker B:So if you are somebody that is like, there's a whole lot of stuff going on right now that I have a lot of feelings around, this is the space for you.
Speaker B:This is also the space where we challenge the sisterhood wound where we are here to create real, lasting community and to really, actually sit and hold each other, to have the ability, if we so choose, to lay in each other's lapse and really feel that we have people around us, holding us, saying, I understand what you feel, and I understand what you're going through, and I'm going through the same thing, and where you feel held and where, like, you are in a space where you belong.
Speaker B:So, again, this is an alchemy circle where we deeply feel our grief, our.
Speaker B:Our rage.
Speaker B:We are witnessed in it, we are held in it, but we don't stay there.
Speaker B:We alchemize or transform it into joy and pleasure just through the actual feeling of those feelings.
Speaker B:There is joy and pleasure in that.
Speaker B:But we take those little nuggets of joy and pleasure and move it into full, embodied joy and pleasure.
Speaker B:And then from there, we have a mission.
Speaker B:We are here to also collectively hold the frequency of what we want this Earth to look like.
Speaker B:We are using the fuel that we get from the energy of moving through our grief and rage, turning it into joy and pleasure, and standing together in a frequent seed together, because it is amplified when we are with more than one person and holding this vision and this frequency for what we want the Earth to look like, moving forward and then leaving the space, walking out into the world as love as much as we can, really embodying that frequency and being beacons of light to others to say, it's okay, it's safe to do the same thing.

Speaker B:So, power.
Speaker B:What is power?
Speaker B:I have been immersed in the frequency of lady of Communion.
Speaker B:That is an archetype that we are studying and experiencing right now in my priestess training.
Speaker B:And one of the aspects of lady of Communion is talking about power and how our community defines power and how this archetype defines power.
Speaker B:Power is energy plus choice.
Speaker B:Let that sink in for a moment.
Speaker B:Power is energy plus choice.
Speaker B:And one of my sisters in my sister circle that we have in my priestess training mentioned how there's also a masculine and feminine to these two parts of power, that the energy is the feminine, that we have this creative potential energy, and then choice of how we use that energy, that discernment and that integrity is more of the masculine energy.
Speaker B:So I thought that was really interesting that she brought the masculine and feminine Dynamic and union into what the definition of power is as well.
Speaker B:So I want you to think about, like, how do we usually define power and how do we usually think about power?
Speaker B:Especially in our current culture, we tend to think about power as the patriarchal sense of power, of, like, power over something.
Speaker B:Taking power over again in order to help yourself.
Speaker B:Whoever is taking the power over, to feel better, it helps them feel safer.
Speaker B:Like I am controlling my environment.
Speaker B:Is that with integrity?
Speaker B:Absolutely not.
Speaker B:But that is what power has come to be.
Speaker B:And then pair greed with power, and you have what we are experiencing right now all over the world, especially in the United States, though, right now with our fascist regime.
Speaker B:And this is what we tend to think of as power.
Speaker B:Now, something that the lady of Communion also brings into awareness is really this idea of sovereignty.
Speaker B:And I talked about this on one of the episodes previously, but I want to just come back to this feeling of, like, being this powerful sovereign being.
Speaker B:And again, sovereignty means we are no longer beholden to someone else to tell us what to do, to tell us who to be to create the reality in front of us.
Speaker B:We have that power within ourselves.
Speaker B:We have the divine power because we are connected, specifically from Source.
Speaker B:Whatever Source is for you, whether it's God, whether it's the universe, whether it's divine power, whether it's a goddess, like, doesn't matter what you call it, whatever Source is for you.
Speaker B:Wherever we originated from, wherever our souls originated from, you were created.
Speaker B:You were, like, handcrafted.
Speaker B:Just as I feel like when I think of my son, that he is my masterpiece, he is this glorious work of art that my body created.
Speaker B:And he's always going to be a part of me.
Speaker B:Even as he grows and changes and becomes his own person and is his own soul that has its own journey here, he still is a part of my body and how I created him.
Speaker B:And it's the same for us.
Speaker B:We are also part of Source.
Speaker B:We were handcrafted and carved from Source.
Speaker B:And so you have all of that power inside of you.
Speaker B:And being able to take that power and sit on your sovereign throne is just like the embodiment of that that I have felt in just the last few days and week.
Speaker B:It is so empowering.
Speaker B:And I really feel like this is why the patriarchy was created and clamped down so tightly.
Speaker B:Because when you feel this amount of power inside of yourself and know that you are a sovereign being that can wield your sword and create the reality that you want, there's no stopping us.
Speaker B:But again, there's that choice that we have to make around.
Speaker B:How are we going to use that energy?
Speaker B:How are we going to direct that energy?
Speaker B:And where is it being directed?
Speaker B:So being able to come from a place of wholeness, from a place of love, from a place of belonging to everyone and being beholden to everyone, that we are working for the collective, not for the self, not for the ego, that when we are working in love and in community with each other, that that power can be used for amazing, amazing things.
Speaker B:And I think it wasn't until now that I really understood what it meant to connect back to your power.
Speaker B:You know, we say that all the time, and especially in women's work, we talk about connecting to your power.
Speaker B:And I think it can get a little nebulous.
Speaker B:And like, I don't really know what that means.
Speaker B:When we embody this understanding of power is energy plus choice, and thinking of the energy as again, our feminine eros energy, our life force that is running through us, and then knowing that we get to then choose what we do with it and how we play with it and how to use it in an integrous way to help the collective, that is power.
Speaker B:That is power.
Speaker B:It is not the climbing up the corporate ladder.
Speaker B:It is not getting to the top of, you know, some arbitrary mountain, whether that be being the President of the United States or a leader of some type or whatever the case is, to then feel that external validation of, oh, look, I did it, I became the thing.
Speaker B:Now everyone looks up to me.
Speaker B:Or even celebrity, the power of celebrity again, where we have this spotlight, where everyone is looking at us and we feel like, that's power.
Speaker B:And to some degree it is, but it's also, how do you use it?
Speaker B:How do you make that choice of what you use?
Speaker B:Again, how like, people talk about, how do you use your platform?
Speaker B:If you have a platform, how are you going to use it?
Speaker B:And we all, to some degree, have a platform.
Speaker B:So again, thinking to if you are a feminine human, a person who identifies as female, we have been stripped of our power for so long.
Speaker B:We have been told every lie that could ever be created around who we are, how we are supposed to operate in this world, to disconnect us from this power, to say, you are not worthy, you are not divine, you are this lowly person, even.
Speaker B:Even to the point of really taking away the power that we have in terms of who we are in this galaxy as humans.
Speaker B:Again, we are royalty in the galaxy.
Speaker B:Humans are royalty.
Speaker B:We are extremely powerful beings being connected to both the cosmos and to this earth, this Earth.
Speaker B:Is like sought after by many, many, many races of beings in, in the.
Speaker B:Out there in the galaxy.
Speaker B:And we have been told how minuscule humans are and have just seen the destruction that humans have done to ourselves.
Speaker B:And I think have gotten to a place where we are just like kind of disgusted and like done with ourselves.
Speaker B:And rightfully so.
Speaker B:I mean, there's a lot of terror and horrible things that have happened, but we're disconnected from the power of our beauty too.
Speaker B:Of how amazing humans really are and how capable we really are and how loving we really are and how healing and just there's so many things that we have the capacity to do that we have gotten from the earth or we have gotten from our divinity that we have been so disconnected from.
Speaker B:And so not only are women in terms of like a gender, disenfranchised and stripped of our power, but as humans, we have been stripped of our power again to serve these people that want to take power over, to make sure that we don't have connection to that power so that we are easy to control.
Speaker B:And I say no more.
Speaker B:No longer are we willing to be disconnected from this power.
Speaker B:We are coming into a time where we are more connected than ever.
Speaker B:And when we are able to tune inward, to close our eyes and really feel what it feels like to be a human being, to be connected to the earth, to be connected to the cosmos, to be connected again horizontally to all living things, there's nothing that can stop that.
Speaker B:And we get to sit on our sovereign thrones and say no more.
